The project formalized by the Umar Education Foundation is in a village setting in Karnataka. It aims to improve the lives of its locals and underprivileged individuals. They desire to handle their needs through spiritual and educational resources. It is a project inside Nirna village of Bidar district that sits at a high elevation between the east and west coasts of India. The land with laterite soil and strong breezes enhance the design context. The plan for the project is to construct a mixed-use facility that serves multiple purposes. For this, the villagers were given a land parcel of about 1.20 acres as a gift from one of their elders. The construction is to be carried out in two phases. Phase A aims to improve the quality of life for the villagers, while Phase B will focus on generating income to sustain the facility economically. Phase A is divided into three stages and aims to develop five buildings and landscape areas. Stage 1 focuses on spiritual learning and includes a Mosque and its supporting facilities. Stage 2 looks into living needs through a dedicated Accommodation building. Finally, Stage 3 offers learning opportunities through buildings for Madrassa and Vocational training. The idea is to create a calming atmosphere for learning and socializing by having all buildings surrounding a landscaped courtyard.
